Exploring life experiences at home and beyond – Destination Happiness

I have noticed a new store has opened in my local shopping centre…A Onesie Store. I had a look inside . The sizes ranged from toddlers to extra large adults. The designs were in many animals forms. Of the animals , some were ‘true to life’ . In colours. Others were animals in very bright colours and some were abstract animals.

I know many of my friends own onesies. I’ve seen many people (toddlers to adults ) wearing them. But, I don’t get them. Where did the trend start… Or who started it?
I see their worth as fancy dress but I’m sure there must be more to it than that.

Do you own a onesie? Where do you wear it? Can you save my google fingers with some information about where / how this trend started ?

Yours in Onesies.

  1. Haven’t heard of the new trend. I’m trying to imagine an adult in an extra large onesie…not a pretty sight. I guess I’d have to see it to believe it…and get use to the idea.

    • Where I live it’s mostly teenagers and young adults that wear them shopping. They are obviously very popular to warrant a specialist shop i guess. I see they would be great fancy dress but I’m not sure I’d push a shopping trolley in one. It’s kind of odd coming around the corner of an aisle to bump trollers with a tall bright green trolley pushing frog . Ha ha

    • Oh you must google for some examples πŸ™‚ They are great dress up items, I see their wealth for that style. I just don’t understand the trend to wear them as everyday clothes.

  2. A WHOLE STORE devoted to those horrible onesies. Hell on earth!! x

  3. I don’t own a onesie. Can’t imagine having to get up to wee during the night and having to undress for it!
But then maybe people don’t sleep in them…

  4. I have a friend who has a few and she loves them!
I flat out refuse to ever where one. I’m sure my mother dressed me in them as a child and that is more than enough usage for me!!! πŸ™‚

  5. I don’t mind onesies, per se. I actually find some cute and stuff. It’s the wearing in public that bugs me. I think they may have blown up because people think it makes them look quirky or whatever — they’re pyjamas for pete’s sake!

    • Yes, you are right probably some did start it off thinking quirky but now it’s turned into an odd ‘fashion statement ‘. I guess there are strange things people could be wearing ….maybe ha ha . Thanks for visiting my blog hope to see you again πŸ™‚

I enjoy reading comments so don't forget to add one please :)
