Exploring life experiences at home and beyond – Destination Happiness

I write because…

I love to talk. I want to share my ideas and hear yours. I speak the truth but sometimes I like to turn it to fiction, embellishing it to make it more interesting , just like adding a variety of textures to a collage. Ears aren’t always there when the thoughts fill me and need to flow like soap bubbles blown from a wand. That’s the beauty of writing. It waits patiently to be heard, while I can start on my next conversation. The words swirl, creating pictures, interpreted personally, as are the images captured by a camera lens of etched with a paintbrush.

On my way…

The WordPress photo prompt this week is about the journey.

‘In-between moments can be just as memorable as grand finales. This week, share a photo you took on the way to something else.’

These photos show on the way to Norfolk Island. I visited in January . I was looking for a summer holiday break and this destination looked beautiful. It certainly lived up to that expectation too. The scenery was amazing and the way of life relaxed. And if you want to read about my flight over take a look here 😄

Angular

I read the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge topic yesterday. It was only this morning as I took yet another walk down memory lane via my camera photos backed up to my iPad that I saw this photo. It was taken on a walk to Florence Cathedral – Santa Maria del Fiore – or more commonly known as ‘The Duomo’. The structure dominates the area in size and beauty. When up on Piazzale Michelangelo looking over Florence it was the landmark point we used as reference. I particularly like that this photo has a small yet bright circle that breaks the angles ( size isn’t what signifies power) . This shot was taken looking up. On that holiday of a lifetime my head was always turning in every direction. I didn’t want to miss a thing. One more thing ticked off my bucket list ( many more added from that trip) . To quote from the South Pacific musical “you gotta have a dream” .

Weekly Photo Challenge: Abandoned

Weekly Photo Challenge – WordPress

For this week’s photo challenge, show us abandoned. You can go literal, as I have, and share a photo of ruins, a desolate place, or your idea of a wasteland. Or you can interpret it in other ways, from images of overlooked things to forgotten people.

Last weekend my husband and I travelled to Catherine Hill Bay( on the northern perimeter of Central Coast NSW). It is a village built on coal mining but today the old jetty has been abandoned to coal trains . Instead its a haven of pylons for diving beneath and swimming in a shady place.Today graffiti covers the gates that once were the entry of life to this jetty.

Three – magic to some

The challenge is listed as

In a nutshell, a three-picture story is a way to help you think about storytelling with images. To create a three-picture story, gather:

  1. An establishing shot: a broad photo of your subject.
  2. A relationship: two elements interacting with one another.
  3. A detail: a close-up of one part of your subject.

Not sure this is exactly the right pattern but these photos hold magical memories.
