Weekly Photo Challenge: Eerie

Today I’m writing in response to WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge. I’m not a photographer but I take a lot of photos. I thought this suited the theme. There is some information after the photo to fill you in a little on this ‘eerie’ scene.

I took this photo in Litchfield NT Australia. There was something eerie about standing on a boardwalk, not a sound around (at that time we were the only people there) except for a soft rustle of grass beneath the boardwalk looking over the tomb-like creations, knowing inside a very busy world was active.

Magnetic Termite Mounds

These eerie tombstone like creations stretching as far as eye can see,  are in fact built by termites. Amazingly they are architectural feats  with arches, tunnels, chimneys, insulation and nursery chambers. The mounds are aligned north to south to minimise the exposure to the sun. Author: Travelling Macs

A mum to 2 grown up children who always make me proud, a wife and a full time school teacher. I love eating great food but am not motivated to cook. Love traveling around this great country in which I live. Often found traveling with my husband Brian. I write for pleasure and if it's read (and enjoyed) by others then that's a bonus! 2014 saw me begin the 'new' me. Working hard at leaving the fear of 'what if' behind and replacing it with YOLO adventures. :)

  1. I want to go to the NT so much. I went there once over 25 years ago with the ex but he was more interested in ripping around the place on his bike than touring. My Garden Gnome and I love road trips so the NT is on our wish list of places to go.

  2. wow, simply amazing,,,,,,,,,,, 🙂

I enjoy reading comments so don't forget to add one please :)
