Exploring life experiences at home and beyond – Destination Happiness

And so the journey begins

Woke up early so I could say goodbye to Tim before he left for work. Had a fairly straight forward start to the morning. All packed, dressed, and on time. Seemed to good to believe for a Butta trip :).but then the 2% club reared it’s ugly head. The handle on my suitcase wouldn’t go down into the case all the way 😦 Brian suggested getting another one down from the roof attic which has its entry through the garage, But that would have meant backing my car out of the garage, getting the suitcase down, driving the car back into the garage then repacking. It was already 8:05am and we needed to leave by 8:20 so I decided to risk the bag as it is 🙂 hope Qantas aren’t stressed by it ha ha.

Ally took us to the train station. As we drive off from home I asked Ally why the light was on in her car. We decide it meant a door is not closed properly. All doors were checked at the top of the hill but still it was on. I remember the boot had been open for cases. As Ally turned right out of the street I was nervous cause I could hear the hatch boot was loose and the bags were moving. Visions of a suitcase trail filled my head like sugar plums do at Christmas :)).All proved well and in a moment were again headed to the station. The train though full was an uneventful trip and we made good time to the airport.

Qantas was a fun experience for the Virgin or Jetstar passenger that I usually am 🙂 It was a series of true self checkin automated activities. The first self checkin saw me have some coordination problems in getting the baggage label on my bag. It was in fact Rocket Science 🙂 Bag label on ( thanks Briiiian) . Next we proceeded to weigh the bags. Misguided by my 20 kg limit of usual I remove my 800 g of shampoo and conditioners without weighing at home I knew this was an essential removal . I was sure I could get more in Adelaide. Well it turns out Qantas has 23 kg,the weight of my suitcase I hear your mind thinking…19.2 kgs. Would have scraped in with the shampoo on even my regular airlines hahaha.

Waited around at the terminal with about an hour to kill. As usual we filled it with coffee sipping ( oops tea for Brian) and food. My next dilemma was in the ladies bathroom , there on the shelf was a bag, a paper shopping bag. Was it unaccompanied baggage?? I was the only one in there and I don’t do Witchery ( store name on the bag). I looked around expecting Kim to flaunt in claiming it…or Sharon fetching it for her ha ha. But no, it sat there all alone. Ok so I contemplated. 10 minutes til we board our plane. Do I tell staff and risk evacuation…that would mean extra walking and we all know what I think of that!! Do I tell staff and risk my plane being delayed or cancelled!! I didn’t want to touch the bag, that would leave my finger prints on it . Then I became brave for I definitely didn’t like the first two options. On tip toe I would be tall enough to look in the bag.I stood tall, leaned across peered into the bag hoping the owner didn’t return at that moment to claim the bag and think I was stealing it . I heaved a sigh of relief then for what I saw was an empty bag bar a shopping docket ( obviously this woman isn’t married to a husband like mine …then again maybe she was and was messing with his head hahaha…) . Out there , in that terminal , was a woman who had probably had a wardrobe malfunction and was wearing a new outfit ( or accessory) , my mind is too suspicious 🙂 We proceeded onto the plane and settled in for the journey. 2% reared it’s head again. I glance up after loading my iPad, water bottle, cardigan and mints into the seat pouch and I see a student from my school!!! The plane seated 144 people including 12 first class seats. What were the chances of her not only being on the plane but also in the same row as me! Ha ha ha unbelievable.

The flight was good and I had the butter chicken wrap for lunch…yes that’s right butter chicken Tim and Ally :)) I also had to share my space with the man in front. It’s amazing how far some people can push a seat back..hope I didn’t upset him with my constant fiddling with my seat pocket while his seat was on my lap ( hee hee hee )

Taxied to the hotel and rested before going to dinner at Hogs breath with my friend Ashley and her family. After a fun dinner it was back home to the room to pack necessities into my hand luggage for the train tomorrow . Now to sleep :))

A mum to 2 grown up children who always make me proud, a wife and a full time school teacher. I love eating great food but am not motivated to cook. Love traveling around this great country in which I live. Often found traveling with my husband Brian. I write for pleasure and if it's read (and enjoyed) by others then that's a bonus! 2014 saw me begin the 'new' me. Working hard at leaving the fear of 'what if' behind and replacing it with YOLO adventures. :)
